MATTHEW MINTER

 

Lyric tenor Matthew Minter was educated at The Windsor Boys’ School where he excelled in music.  At the age of 15, he became the youngest member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and was invited to join the World Youth Choir when he was 19.  Matthew continued his studies at Salford University and furthered them at The Royal Northern College of Music.

Renowned for his versatility, Matthew is in great demand both in the UK and abroad.  He has sung at a number of the most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Bridgewater Hall and The Lincoln Center.  He works regularly as a concert soloist with many of Britain's leading orchestras, including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Symphony Orchestra.  Matthew has had the privilege of working under the direction of such distinguished conductors as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Richard Hickox, Sir David Willcocks and Pierre Boulez.  Matthew has made numerous recordings and broadcasts for BBC radio and television, notably singing live on Christmas Day morning, broadcast on BBC1.

In 1993 Matthew became a founder member of the BBC Daily Service Singers and has since been established as their principal tenor.  He sings regularly with the BBC Singers, London Voices and The Sixteen.  Matthew is also a member of the Opera on the run company with whom he has toured extensively in the production of 'Spaghetti Opera' and performs regularly in opera gala events.  In 2008 Matthew created Premier Singers and subsequently fixed the chorus for Karl Jenkins 'Stabat Mater' UK tour and also provided the sound for 'All The Small Things'  screened on BBC1.  Matthew now resides in Amsterdam and is a full time member of the Nederlands Radio Choir.  His vocal coach is Jon Thorsteinsson.

Among the most recent career highlights Matthew has sung at The Conservative Party Ball as well as at a private party for the Duchess of York and family. He also appeared as one of three operatic tenors being driven by Michael Schumacher whilst singing 'O Sole Mio' for a drink drive awareness advert.
